Lack of services, ambulance, JSY entitlements, and undue payment for pregnant woman

11:15 Jul 16 2014 Sapoi Tea Estate Hospital

Sapoi Tea Estate Hospital- A pregnant woman was taken to the Sapoi tea garden hospital for delivery by hired cab as the ambulance was not available. In the hospital the patient was not attended properly and felt mistreated by the staff because she belongs to the Adivasi community. At the hospital she was forced to pay for prescribed medicines, blood transfusion and for the staff services. The patient also paid for admission. Neither the mother nor the baby received postnatal and neonatal care due to lack of services available. The newborn did not even receive basic immunization. Lastly, as the patient's pregnancy had not been previously registered, she also did not get the cash assistance provided under the JSY scheme.
